Wine List
Domaine de Brescou Syrah 2004
Domaine de Brescou have a strong Rhone Valley influence in all of their wines, and it is very evident in this Syrah. It is packed with generous flavours of blackcurrant and raspberry, and the barrel ageing adds an undertone of vanilla to the wine. Like all good examples of Syrah, it has peppery hints and a good tannic structure, that makes it an ideal wine to accompany red meats and tomato-based dishes.
Domaine de Brescou Syrah/Viognier 2005
The Rhone influence is all too evident here again in this wonderful emulation of some of the very finest wines of the Northern Rhone. Again, the red fruit aromas in this wine are intense and opulent, but the Viognier adds a certain acidic freshness and a touch of peachy perfume. Overall this is a wonderfully approachable wine that is drinking perfectly now. A real bargain.
Domaine de Brescou Terra Sanguina 2005
This wine may seem to many to be a slight nod to the new-world style of wine. Extremely accessible, it is a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. While the berry fruit flavours and aromas are still bright and fresh, this wine has aged wonderfully in bottle and has nuances of smoked toffee and a real undercurrent of eucalyptus. Unique and complex, it would be a glorious partner to a leg of lamb.
Domaine de Brescou Carisma 2005
Last but certainly not least we have Carisma, a full-bodied blend of Merlot, Carignan, Syrah and Grenache. Deep in colour, this has tightly wound aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and cherry. Pepper and spice run throughout the wine, and are complimented by classic aromas of smoky french oak. A wonderfully well-balanced wine, with a silky texture. A good match for red meats and particularly mushrooms.
