La Rosée De Bagatelle 2008
We have recently received delivery of the long awaited and much anticipated La Rosée De Bagatelle 2008 Vintage from Gary at Pontet Bagatelle. This highly acclaimed rosé has recently been awarded three gold medals and voted one of the best 40 rosé’s in the world.
The profile of the wine remains true to Gary’s initial strive for the perfect rosé, a pale pink colour, elegant with a delicate peach nuance. The nose is full and fruity with suggestions of pink grapefruit, peach and exotic fruits accompanied by hints of red currant. There is a strong mouth at the beginning but the finish is long and fresh. The wine consists, 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah.
As the summer temperatures rise, this wine is the perfect aperitif but also carries enough weight to work with picnic and barbequed food. Wine of the Month - May 2009
Every month we will be profiling a wine or producer that we think deserves to be made a fuss of for one reason or another.
This month see’s the turn of a new kid on the block, Bodega Ozalder. We discovered this young, wine at one of the many tastings we attended at the beginning of the year. Since them we have been working hard to build a fruitful business relationship.
The vineyards are situated in central Navarra, near Estella, where varieties of Tempranillo and Merlot take advantage of the ideal weather conditions of moderate rain and smooth temperatures which allow the ripening to be very slow but stable, therefore obtaining the best of each variety.

“All our knowledge and new idea’s, both in cultivation and in the elaboration to obtain a wine with character, for curious palates that need to discover other sensations. Our red has a complex fragrance which harmonizes the floral and the spiced flavours coming from careful production and its subsequent settlement in casks for four months, it enhances its roundness and taste in the mouth, emphasising the final taste with memories of liquorice and cinnamon”.

A rose wine with an intense and transparent colour plenty of fruit and a balanced red fruit fragrance. Soft tannins give this rose a very round taste in the mouth but it also provides it with great personality. The winemaker, Maria Jose Garcia describes it as “A new rose for curious palates”.
