New from New Zealand
Great wines start in the vineyard; sun-ripened grapes evolving into fabulous wines.
At Mount Brown they work hard to produce the best grapes from the Waipara Valley vineyards. It has been up to three years after the first bunches appeared, but now the time has come when we can sit down and enjoy the rewards of the families hard work and patience by what is in the glass.
Mount Brown is a family owned vineyard, situated on the western slopes of the Waipara Valley. The family occupy two different sites, the smaller ‘Mount Brown’ block is where the vineyard was first established and is planted with Pinot Noir and Riesling. Nearby, the ‘Limeloader’ block (25 hectares) contains mostly Sauvignon Blanc, with small amounts of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Tempranillo(the red grape used in Rioja). Both sites have well-drained, sandy gravel soils. The Mount Brown block is more sheltered and less frost prone, whilst the Limeloader block is slightly less protected.
We have a small amount of the Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir arriving this week please feel free to pop into the shop for a taste of these excellent wines.
